What is the International Staff Week?

International Staff Week is an event that brings together staff members from different universities, colleges and institutions from around the world to share knowledge, experiences and best practices. It is one of the most important internationalization activities of Sivas Cumhuriyet University.

The International Staff Week provides an excellent opportunity for participants to network with colleagues from different parts of the world, learn about new cultures, gain a fresh perspective on their work and experience teaching or training in a foreign context.

During the event, there are workshops, seminars and presentations focusing on different topics related to higher education, such as internationalisation, intercultural communication and student mobility. The programme also includes cultural and social events, city tours, museum visits and dinners.

The mission of the International Staff Week organized by Sivas Cumhuriyet University is to foster a collaborative and supportive environment for international university staff to exchange best practices, share knowledge and experiences, and develop new ideas and strategies for enhancing the quality of higher education.

Visit to the University History Museum. The museum displays documents, items, publications, photographs and artwork reflecting the institutional history of Sivas Cumhuriyet University.

Visit to Kangal Dog Research Centre. The centre aims to promote the breeding of Kangal dogs under appropriate conditions and to preserve this important local breed.

Tour at Hasbahçe Lake and MiniaSivas. Participants visit the artificial lake located on the campus and the miniature replicas of historical buildings in Sivas.

Tour at Hamidiye Park and visit to The War Horses Museum. Participants visit one of the important cultural sites of Sivas and learn about the historical role of horses in Turkish and global cultures.

Excursion to Gürün Gökpınar Lake. The lake is known for its crystal-clear water, natural beauty and trout production. A free lunch featuring fresh-caught trout from the lake is planned for participants.

A shuttle bus service has been arranged for participants’ convenience.

Shuttle Service

The shuttle service will be available on 11 May 2025 to transport participants from the airport to the gathering point in the city centre. Throughout the event, from 12 to 16 May 2025, the shuttle bus will also be available each morning to transport participants from the pick-up point to the International Relations Office.

Participants who cannot make it to Sivas on Sunday, 11 May 2025, can use the airport bus service to get to the city centre. HAVAŞ buses and Municipality buses are available for flights.

Sivas Cuisine

Meat, cereals and dairy products are important in Sivas cuisine. Winter preparations and local herbs, especially madımak, have a significant place in the culinary culture of the city.

Sivas cuisine reflects a rich culinary culture extending from the Ottoman period to the present day. Registered Sivas meatballs, Sivas kebab with vegetables, Sivas meat bread, pescutan soup, pezik pickles, madımak, Divriği pilaf, hurma dessert, katmer and other local flavours are among the prominent examples of this culinary heritage.
