International Relations Office(IRO) is the unit which coordinates the international affairs and mobility programmes of Sivas Cumhuriyet University.

Years of experience in carrying out International Programmes

For the last 15 years, Sivas Cumhuriyet University has been carrying out Erasmus+ Mobility with countries from all over the world such as England, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Estonia, Romania, Hungary, USA, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Jordan, Tunisia,  Morocco, Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Colombia, Sudan, Cuba, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, Montenegro, China,  Algeria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Russia, Nepal, Mongolia, Pakistan, Moldova, Palestine. 
Within the frame of Erasmus+ more than 3000 students and staff from Sivas Cumhuriyet University have had studying, training and teaching experience in a different country. 

Great support and participation of our Rector in international activities

Sivas Cumhuriyet University has the honour of being represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Alim YILDIZ, one of the most reputable academic scholars of his field, in international activities. Placing a special emphasis on internationalization of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Rector Yıldız has visited and hosted a great number of Governors, Ambassadors, Rectors, Representatives, Scholars and Officials from many countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Bosnia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Tunisia, Moldova, Morocco, Azerbaijan on behalf of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, signing bilateral agreements and strengthening the position of Sivas and University in the world. With the full support of Rector Yıldız in all aspects, Sivas Cumhuriyet University International Relations Office is ready to organize many more internationally-scoped events such as Annual International Staff Week and Ambassadors Meeting.

Having strong connections with the local and national administrative institutions

Believing in the role and power of strong local connections in having sustainable and fruitful international relations, Sivas Cumhuriyet University has maintained its reputable position in the sight of Local and National Administrative institutions through regular bilateral visits and organizing mutual events. The reputable position of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Rector in city protocol is an important sign of level of our relations.

Having qualified both academic and administrative International Relations Office staff with international experience.

With the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ali Aksu, head of the International Relations Office and Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator, Sivas Cumhuriyet University International Relations Office has been successfully coordinating the international schedule of the university in their friendly work atmosphere. Sivas Cumhuriyet University International Relations Office currently functions with three academic (Lect. Emre Seven, Lect. Adem Demir and Lect. Murat Ercan) five administrative (Deniz Olgaç, Uğur Yuvacı, Yasemin Kan, Ayşe Ceran, Dilbar Baba) and part-time student-staff in the IRO building in the centre of the university campus.

Location in a historic city with a friendly and hospitable population. 

Being one of the corner stones of Anatolian history with a unique combination of three important Turkish history periods Seljuks, Ottoman and Republic, Sivas offers the students to have their education in a safe and hospitable city full of historic sites to visit and experience the thousands of year-old Turkish Culture and hospitality of Sivas residents. 


Upon arrival, Sivas Cumhuriyet University International Relations Office organizes very detailed orientation programme for mobility students and staff to learn and adapt to university campus and city quickly.
University Orientation consists of:
A visit to faculties and administrative units, banks, library, sports hall, research centres, swimming pool at campus with the introduction from officials of these departments.
City Orientation consists of:
A full-day visit to the historic city square where three important era in Turkish history come together, important state buildings, museums and shopping places.

International Staff Week

Sivas Cumhuriyet university proudly organizes two annual International Staff Week in which academicians and administrative staff from many countries come together and share their experiences in a wonderful 5-Day programme in Sivas. 1st Staff Week-1 in 2018 and 2nd Staff Week hosted 54 academic and administrative staff from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Georgia, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Morocco, Russia, Tunisia, Poland, Algeria   Full of many academic and cultural activities such as workshops, seminars, meals, Basic Turkish course, daily trips, visits to Governor and Mayor of the city, International Staff Week is an essential part of our international schedule.

To ensure the realization of international student and personnel exchange programs in line with the internationalization strategy and objectives of our university and to develop activities for the international recognition of our university.

In this context,
– Signing inter-institutional agreements with higher education institutions in different countries
– To organize promotional and information meetings for our students and staff to be informed about the Erasmus program and to support the meetings organized by the units.
– Developing strategies and activities to increase the number of international students and staff
– To cooperate with academic units so that our university can have an education model suitable for the Bologna process.
– To prepare projects on behalf of the university in order to benefit from the funding opportunities provided by the European Commission
– International promotion days with the participation of our partner institutions and
– To regularly participate in international events organized by our partner countries and institutions for the promotion of our university.
– To provide the international connections necessary to organize joint diploma programs in different countries
