What Is a Blended Intensive Programme?
A Blended Intensive Programme is an Erasmus+ activity that combines physical and virtual mobility within an intensive international learning, teaching or training programme.
BIPs are designed to encourage innovative teaching and learning methods and to enable participants from different countries and academic backgrounds to work together on shared topics, projects, challenges or learning outcomes.
The physical mobility component takes place at the host institution or another location specified by the programme, while the compulsory virtual component provides structured online collaboration between participants.
Depending on the programme, BIPs may involve students, academic staff, administrative staff or a combination of participant groups.

Student Mobility
Students from eligible participating institutions may attend a BIP as a short-term Erasmus+ learning mobility where permitted by the relevant programme and call.
Teaching & Training
Academic or administrative staff may participate in eligible BIP activities through teaching, training or other programme-specific mobility arrangements.
How Does a BIP Work?
Partner Institutions
Participating institutions jointly develop an international intensive programme.
Virtual Component
Participants work together online through compulsory collaborative activities.
Physical Mobility
Participants travel to the host destination for the intensive physical part of the programme.
Intensive Programme
Participants learn, teach, train and collaborate in an international group.
Completion
Programme outcomes and recognition are completed in accordance with the relevant BIP and mobility rules.
Basic BIP Requirements
The following provides a general overview only. The applicable Erasmus+ Programme Guide and the conditions of the relevant call always take precedence.
The physical mobility component generally lasts between 5 and 30 days.
A compulsory virtual component must enable meaningful collaborative online learning.
A student BIP should define an academic workload corresponding to at least 3 ECTS.
The programme is jointly developed through cooperation between eligible higher education institutions.
